Mercy Brown (NEM 2) – Women’s Relaxed Tee
New England Mystery Collection – A chilling legend you can wear.
Before Twilight, before Salem’s stage-lit hysteria—there was Mercy Lena Brown, Rhode Island’s very own real-life vampire legend. In the winter of 1892, in the quiet town of Exeter, Mercy’s family was ravaged by tuberculosis, known then as "consumption." When Mercy passed away at just 19, the local townsfolk, gripped by fear and superstition, exhumed her body, claiming she was rising from the grave to drain the life from her surviving brother.
What they found chilled them to the bone: her body was remarkably preserved, and blood was still in her heart. This discovery led to a ritual straight out of horror fiction—her heart and liver were removed, burned, and mixed into a tonic for her ill brother to drink. It didn’t work. But the legend of Mercy Brown has lived on, whispered through New England cemeteries and vampire lore alike.
The Mercy Brown (NEM 2) tee is part of our New England Mystery series, celebrating the strange and spine-tingling stories that are part of our regional folklore. With a relaxed fit and incredibly soft fabric, this women’s tee is made for the curious, the bold, and the mysteriously stylish.
